Time For A Prize - A Decision Has Been Made
Thank you everyone for entering this first competition.
After reading through all the entries I was left with 3 contenders, each with their own style and appeal.
The winning entry is Vomited on, but cleaned by gbullard. It is a charming and amusing adolescent misadventure-by-overeating featuring a nice use of detail and great timing.
I have already contacted gbullard and his $25 Amazon Gift Certificate should be sitting in his inbox by now.
I would like to give a special commendation for sandpiper7's entry, mistakes, which is a lovely elegy to a relationship.
A commendation also to Alighieri for his entry, Mistake, a hard-boiled character piece about a failed thug.
I would like to say that I am impressed with the quality of the submissions. I did not expect that choosing a winner would involve so much head-scratching. Perhaps for the next competition, when One Two Fiver hits 500 members, we will have more than a single prize up for grabs. That might make my decision process a little easier.
Thanks again, everyone, for entering. My goal is to make One Two Fiver the site everyone visits for great writers and great writing. You are making it look like it will be easier to achieve than I imagined.
